JOB TITLE: Part-Time Educational Assistant – Special Education (3.5-5.9 hours a day, 17.5-29.9 hours a week)
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Classroom Teacher
JOB SUMMARY: To assist classroom teachers with individual and/or small group learning in special and general education classrooms and provide student supervision as needed. Staff will be asked to support students with a variety of needs, which could include academic, social, functional and behavioral supports. A primary focus is the establishment of a positive learning environment that promotes a high level of achievement and inclusion for all students. Full job description available upon request.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Criminal history clearance (background check and HB 2062).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic computer/technology skills.
- Spanish language skills.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with instructional tasks, social-emotional skill development, and activities of daily living as assigned by the teacher.
- Works directly with student(s) with disabilities and disabling conditions.
- Assists students with the development of academics, communication, and functional skills, appropriate behavior and self-regulation, personal hygiene, grooming, cleaning, etc. as per the students Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Supervises students in all school settings ensuring safety and security at all times,
- Provides supervision for and assists with arrival and departure routines, including loading and unloading children from buses.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Works a school year calendar, approximately 181.5 days at .4375 - .74 FTE. Based on current OSEA salary schedule and negotiated agreement, salary (code 8 – starting $18.03/hr. – $20.82/hr.) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement.
