JOB TITLE:  Middle School Literacy Intervention Teacher, 0.5 FTE

REPORTS TO:  Building Principal

JOB SUMMARY:  To provide supplemental reading and writing instruction to students working towards meeting Common Core State Standards.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
  2. Hold or be eligible for Oregon Teaching Certification with an endorsement in Reading Intervention.
  3. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Hold an Oregon Teaching Certification with an endorsement in English Language Arts.
  2. Prior successful classroom instruction in English Language Arts and reading interventions.
  3. Proficient in Trauma Informed Practices and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) including Growth Mindset.
  4. Proficient in the use of educational technology.
  5. Spanish speaking, reading and writing skills.      

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide individual and small group instruction to meet individual needs and help students make satisfactory progress in the areas of reading and writing.
  2. Develop and use instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of pupils with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities.
  3. Evaluate academic and social growth of students and maintain appropriate records.
  4. Participate on grade level data teams and use data to plan for instruction.
  5. Communicate with parents and staff to promote best learning opportunities for students.
  6. Work with other staff as a part of a team to provide the best instruction possible to students.
  7. Actively engage in curriculum and/or faculty committees as required. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190-day contract at 0.5 FTE. Based on current SEA salary schedule and negotiated agreement, salary pending negotiations ($48,380 - $98,212 x 0.5 FTE = $24,190 - $49,106) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement.
