JOB TITLE: Middle School Literacy Intervention Teacher, 0.5 FTE
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB SUMMARY: To provide supplemental reading and writing instruction to students working towards meeting Common Core State Standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- Hold or be eligible for Oregon Teaching Certification with an endorsement in Reading Intervention.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold an Oregon Teaching Certification with an endorsement in English Language Arts.
- Prior successful classroom instruction in English Language Arts and reading interventions.
- Proficient in Trauma Informed Practices and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) including Growth Mindset.
- Proficient in the use of educational technology.
- Spanish speaking, reading and writing skills.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide individual and small group instruction to meet individual needs and help students make satisfactory progress in the areas of reading and writing.
- Develop and use instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of pupils with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities.
- Evaluate academic and social growth of students and maintain appropriate records.
- Participate on grade level data teams and use data to plan for instruction.
- Communicate with parents and staff to promote best learning opportunities for students.
- Work with other staff as a part of a team to provide the best instruction possible to students.
- Actively engage in curriculum and/or faculty committees as required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190-day contract at 0.5 FTE. Based on current SEA salary schedule and negotiated agreement, salary pending negotiations ($48,380 - $98,212 x 0.5 FTE = $24,190 - $49,106) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement.
