JOB TITLE: Elementary Dean of Students – TOSA, 1.0 FTE
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Special Services Director


JOB SUMMARY: The Dean of Students will be responsible for performing their duties, including creating a positive
learning environment for all students by supporting student’s lagging skills, student activities, social skills interventions,
conflict resolution, discipline, attendance and family engagement.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher.
2. Hold or be eligible for Oregon Teaching Certification.
3. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
4. Knowledge of regular, Special Education and Americans with Disabilities law.
5. Criminal history clearance (background check and HB 2062).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Proficient in Trauma Informed Practices and Emotional Learning (SEL).
2. Prior successful experience in implementing and executing PBIS and Restorative Initiatives and strategies.
3. Prior successful experience supporting students with challenging behaviors in a school setting.
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
5. Spanish language skills.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist in creating a positive school environment conducive to teaching and learning.
2. Serve as a resource to staff in supporting classroom management issues and challenging student behavior.
3. Work with building leadership and school teams on complex behavior support planning, implementation, and
data collection.
4. Communicate effectively and openly with parents and the public, and continue positive school/community
relations and partnerships that enhance district programs and services.
5. Handle cases with unique demands at the request of building leadership.
6. Work closely with special education representatives and parents to foster positive relations and to support
student learning.
7. Perform other related duties as assigned.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190-day contract at 1.0 FTE, starting Fall 2024. Based on current SEA salary schedule and
negotiated agreement, salary pending negotiations (2023-2024 salary range $45,005-$91,359) with excellent benefits
including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement. Paid time off includes one sick day per
month worked and three personal days, pro-rated per school year. Benefit information can be found at
