JOB TITLE: English Language Development Assistant (.94 FTE, 7.5 hours per day average)
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and ELD Teacher
JOB SUMMARY: To assist classroom teacher with individual and/or small group learning in classroom as well as cafeteria and playground supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Criminal history clearance (background check and HB 2062).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to meet Highly Qualified Paraprofessional standards (2 years of college, Associates degree, or passing score on a State or locally approved assessment of reading, writing, and math skills).
- Prior successful experience working in a school setting
- Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Self-starter who is able to take minimal guidance as well as work as a team member.
- Ability to work with students for whom English is the second or third language.
- Provide instructional support for individual and/or small groups of ELL students.
- Communicate with teachers regarding student needs.
- Communicate with parents as needed.
- Translate school documents, such as a weekly newsletter, from English to Spanish.
- Ability to maintain patience in stressful situations.
- Ability to treat information confidentially.
- Other duties and supervision as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 181 day work agreement at 7.5 hours per day (0.94 FTE). Salary pending finalized OSEA negotiated agreement (24-25 salary range is (Code 8: $18.03-$24.06), with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement. Paid time off includes one sick day per month worked and two personal days, pro-rated per school year. Immediate start date.
