TITLE: Temporary Student Assistant Landscaper – Approximately 6 hours/week
REPORTS TO: Assistant Principal
POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, this position assists in preparing nutritious and attractive meals for students and staff while maintaining a clean kitchen and cafeteria and observing all Health Department regulations to create a safe and healthy work environment and delivers food.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Seaside High School student
- Acceptable academic standing
- Acceptable attendance records
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Comfortable working independently or as a part of a team.
- Interest in landscape, gardening, or environmental sustainability preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.
- Knows and follows all safety guidelines and wear appropriate gear while working.
- Perform manual landscaping tasks using hand tools such as rakes, hoes, shovels, brooms, pruners, and shears
- Weed planting beds, walkways, and other landscape areas.
- Assist with planting flowers, shrubs, or small trees.
- Remove debris, trash, and organic matter from outdoor areas.
- Sweep sidewalks and pathways.
- Mulch landscape areas as directed.
- Maintain tools and ensure they are cleaned and returned after use.
- Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff and students.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The position is paid at $15.05 per hour. Hours worked will be one hour per day, as needed while students are in attendance. Employment duration is per term. Employment may be renewed at the discretion of Administration. No additional benefits are included with this position. Open until filled.
