JOB TITLE: Kindergarten Educational Assistant (.875 FTE, average 7 hour days)
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Classroom Teachers
JOB SUMMARY: To assist classroom teacher with individual and/or small group learning in classroom as well as cafeteria and playground supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Computer/technology skills.
- Criminal history clearance (background check and HB 2062).
- Ability to meet Highly Qualified Paraprofessional standards (2 years of college, Associates degree or pass WorkKeys skills test).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior successful experience working in a school setting.
- Spanish speaking skill.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Self-starter who is able to take minimal guidance, as well as, work as a team member.
- Organized, patient, and kind in working with elementary school-aged students including those with handicapping conditions.
- Ability to maintain patience in stressful situations.
- Ability to be physically active.
- Ability to treat information confidentially.
- Positive attitude toward children and our school’s efforts.
- Computer/technology skills desired.
- Other duties and supervision as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Works .875 FTE (av. 7 hour day) for 180 work days, based on a school year calendar. Paid per OSEA Contract (Code 7: $17.23 - $19.88 per hour), with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement. Paid time off includes one sick day per month worked and two personal days, pro-rated per school year. Starts as soon as possible.
