JOB TITLE: Educational Assistant/Preschool - 30 hours per week (6.0 hours per day, average) REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Classroom Teachers
JOB SUMMARY:
To assist classroom teacher with individual and/or small group learning in classroom, as well as, cafeteria and
play ground supervision. Full job description available upon request.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Criminal history clearance (background check and HB 2062).
- Ability to meet Highly Qualified Paraprofessional standards (2 years of college, Associates degree or pass WorkKeys skills test).
- Basic computer/technology skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Spanish speaker.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Self-starter who is able to take minimal guidance, as well as, work as a team member.
- Organized, patient, and kind in working with elementary-aged students including those with special needs.
- Assists teacher with set up and maintenance of classroom.
- Assists students with restroom and mealtime procedures.
- Ability to maintain patience in stressful situations.
- Ability to be physically active.
- Ability to treat information confidentially.
- Positive attitude toward children and our school’s efforts.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Works a school year calendar, approximately 180 days at FTE 0.75. Based on current OSEA salary schedule and negotiated agreement, salary (code 7 – starting $17.23/hr. – $19.88/hr.) with excellent benefits including Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance and Oregon state retirement. Paid time off includes one sick day per month worked and two personal days, pro-rated per school year. Starts as soon as possible.
